This is the most current information on the availability of Seasonal and H1N1 flu vaccinations at the Foothill College Main Campus and Middlefield Campus.

A limited number of 1,000 H1N1 vaccines is available on campus Nov. 18-19 only for currently enrolled students and Foothill faculty and staff. To receive the vaccine, the student must present his/her current registration receipt and valid photo identification; no exceptions. The vaccination is offered at no charge to currently enrolled students and to FHDA employees for $10 only while supplies last.

Foothill Health Services nurses will administer the vaccine to currently enrolled students and Foothill faculty and staff only while supplies last Wednesday, Nov. 18, from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. while supplies last in Room 1929 in the Administration Building at the Foothill Main Campus in Los Altos Hills. On Thursday, Nov. 19, the vaccine will be given from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. while supplies last in the Health Services Office in Room 2120 at the Foothill Main Campus in Los Altos Hills. To receive a vaccination, the student must provide proof of current registration or student ID card, and the FHDA employee must present a 2009-2010 staff card.

Foothill College will offer more H1N1 Flu vaccinations to the remainder of our campus community if the college receives another allotment of vaccines.

Foothill College continues to work closely with Santa Clara County Public Health Services to monitor H1N1 influenza in our community and to make decisions about the best steps to take to protect the health of Foothill students, faculty and staff. We will continue to update the Foothill community as information becomes available. Continue to review the Foothill Web site for the latest information regarding the availability of vaccinations on campus.

In the meantime, educate yourself by reading accurate flu awareness information, including who should and should not get vaccinated, and additional information that's posted at www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/. If you have questions about allergies, vaccine contraindications, and whether you should or should not get vaccinated, call the Foothill College Health Services Office at (650) 949-7243.

Here's what you can do to help with flu-prevention efforts:
  • Always cover your mouth and nose by coughing or sneezing into your bent elbow;
  • Always practice good hand hygiene;
  • If you are ill and on campus, report to the on-campus Health Services Office in Room 2126;
  • Stay at home if you develop flu-like symptoms. Remain at home until at least 24 hours after you no longer have a fever or signs of a fever without the use of fever-reducing medicine; and
  • Check with your doctor about getting yourself, your children or family members vaccinated for seasonal flu and H1N1 flu, if you are in a high-risk group.
